Remember… you can never be too polite…
In Japanese, the bow at the beginning and end of training is called Rei. It means Courtesy. It’s pronounced like “Ray” in English.
Before you begin to train, you bow and say “onegaishimasu.”
It means “If you please…” in Japanese.
When you’ve finished training, you bow and say “domo arigato gozaimashita.”
it means “Thank you” in Japanese.

In pronouncing most Japanese words,
“A” sounds like “Ahh,”
“E” sounds like the ai in “aid,”
“I” sounds like “ee,”
“O” sounds like “Oh” and
“U” sounds like the ou in “you.”
As you learn more, you’ll get better at saying the correct Japanese terms. Again, what’s important is that you are trying to be polite and courteous. We are not making fun of these words… we are trying to remember
